A New Era
Today, this blog will change its direction, in addition to the URL. This website is now at chemmefatale.blogspot.com. I wanted to usher in the start of something I am about to become completely obsessed with, which is getting into graduate school for Chemistry/Materials Science. As of today, I am writing a plan that will hopefully make me more attractive to some unnamed university of good repute.
And with that in mind, I studied my transcript today. I still have a 2.711 cumulative GPA, which tends to not change regardless of having worked for two years. I also have an even lower major GPA. This is not incredibly horrible news, since I still have a chance of entering some form of post-graduate education. However, I need to find a course of action to make my application look less likely to get turned away.
The following ideas I have come up with so far are:
Getting a high GRE Subject Score
Talking to the faculty members of Prospective Universities in the labs I want to work for
Retaking courses
Bolstering my research experience (hard, because I haven't written any papers)
Using my current employment connections to my advantage: I have worked for three years now so I have sufficient chemistry research under my belt. The problem is that I can not share it with anyone.
I am also open to suggestions. I know personal statements go far, but it would be nice if I had some bonafide way of getting the admissions officers to read it first.
