Hibernating, random stuff, procrasstinating
I sit here and ogle the cheese horn, still wrapped in its plasticky goodness. I don't know why I grabbed it from the table full of snacks at work this morning over apples and grapes, or why I am resisting opening up the packaging and savoring the meld of cream cheese and sugar in a flaky, buttery crust. I only know that it is October. And the weather gets colder, the clouds swirl in, and humanity has this overwhelming urge to snuggle up with a lump of fatty tissue covered in skin in a living room with a fireplace somewhere while watching the latest episode of Mad Men. This is where I am at right now. I want bacon. I want junk food. Double double? Wrapped in Krispy Kremes? Yes, please.
Do I fight my biological urges and get up to do some serious jogging or do I inhale that bowl of Kimchee Rice in the Stoneware pot that is gently crisping up my rice, but is still too deliciously hot to touch and then go for that piece of cake, hoping for better weather and shorter workdays ahead, none of which are likely to happen in the middle of October? Maybe I can just polish off an apple instead. Although the urge to slice it up and bake it into a cake or batter it and fry it up into fritters is sometimes stronger than the force to be sedentary by itself. At least for now, the tomatoes and the grapes are ripe and fresh and I can still turn that squash into cinnamony gold. With the bounty of the farmers market, we can get through this.
