Closeted Morningperson

Three weeks ago, I gave up caffeine. I decided that it interfered with my ability to be awake early in the morning, and that I could slowly train myself to wake up naturally. Fast forward to this morning when I sat in bed around 5:30 am with a belly ache and acute boyally induced insomnia, and decided thirty minutes later to get up and tread the land that dawn feared to make eye contact with. I began my morning ritual of bathroom and internet. Since I use free wireless, the bathroom is one of the few places to get on the information superhighway. It also turns out that I use the bathroom for a long time. I left the house at 6:45 am headed for Saratoga. I had to go find a hardcover book that I had thoughtlessly chucked near the treadmill at the 24 Hour Fitness. Instead of having the foresight to call them and ask if they had seen it, I drove there, basically unhindered by traffic.

There was no book at the gym. Too bad, because I had borrowed it from the library, and I really wanted to finish reading it. Note: this may become a future saga in the land of blogging known as "Lost Library Book(s) I Wish I Had Read."

Nonetheless, I began driving back to begin my day at work. The fluid artery of the 85 had taken a downturn around 7:15 am and was about to clot pretty badly. I made it out in the nick of time, driving along the 280 and avoiding the morass of morning commute. I got off at the 84 junction just in time to witness the parking lot and avoid it by merging to the nearby 82.
Still groggy from the feat of waking up so early, I tried hitting every drive-thru coffee place that caught my eye and managed to miss the entrances for all of them. I deftly maneuvered my way to Marsh to stop and go into work and got there around 8:00 am. I made my first pot of coffee in weeks, which turned out a little sour, and also full of coffee grinds due to my mistake of dropping a tablespoon of coffee into the water holder. (No one will notice that...right?)

Several lessons have been learned from this experience and will be presented to the reader in a list thanks to the wonderful formatting of blogger.

  1. Keep better track of items, especially when your mind is going batty from boy problems.
  2. Always call a place to make sure they have your missing items.
  3. Caffeinate early and often
  4. Traffic will suck in the Silicon Valley no matter how early you wake up.
I don't think there are enough blogs about single women going through relationships, heartache and the inevitability of their eggs drying up without making a substantial profit in the Silicon Valley. Unfortunately, this is not just a blog about that. It might be about my humdrum existence trying to make the atmosphere a little less mucky. It might be about my amateur writing skills and how I should just stick to my day job making the atmosphere less mucky. It might be about damn good food, like the fries that I smothered with In-and-Out dressing last night. Lets just see how things develop.
